Colossal: Movie Review

Unique, interesting and entertaining.
If you have ever wanted to have a discussion about extremely self-destructive people, then you need to watch Colossal. A movie that’s more clever than it has any right to be. Gloria (Anne Hathaway) spends her nights getting drunk and then waking up in the morning (or afternoon) with a hangover unable to remember what happened the night before, and then rinse and repeat. Meanwhile there’s a giant monster terrorizing Seoul, South Korea. Interestingly, these two events are intimately connected. 2017

Directed by: Nacho Vigalondo

Screenplay by: Nacho Vigalondo

Starring: Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis

Snowpiercer: Movie Review

All aboard the Snowpiercer for a revolution.
Set in 2031, 17 years after a climate change experiment went awry and froze the entire world, all that is left is a technologically advanced train called the Snowpiercer and its occupants. It’s a post-apocalyptic movie, and yet it’s historically accurate. Take any revolution in history, place it on a train in the future, and you have Snowpiercer. It’s an action movie, but it’s also a thoughtful character piece. 2013

Directed by: Joon-ho Bong

Screenplay by: Joon-ho Bong
Based on Le Transperceneige

Starring: Chris Evans, Jamie Bell and Tilda Swinton

Monsters: Movie Review

Interesting mix between science fiction and the reality of mankind.

"Monsters" is an interesting mix between science fiction and the reality of mankind. By "the reality of mankind", I mean, the universal feelings of love and the ability of all humans to make really stupid mistakes at the worst opportune times. When you're fighting for your lives against an alien race, momentary stupidity can really cost you. And it costs the film from being a more enthralling narrative.   2010

Directed by: Gareth Edwards

Screenplay by: Gareth Edwards

Starring: Scoot McNairy, Whitney Able

TiMER: Movie Review

A cheerfully original rom-com.

Finally our clocks have counted down and we have Jac Schaeffer's TiMER in our lives; a fantastic romantic comedy has been brought into the world. Sure, all romantic comedies follow the same trend, cute girl wants to meet her soul mate. The poor ones do it with horrible main characters and ridiculously unfunny contrived situations. The better ones add comedy and likable characters. And now, here comes TiMER - smart, well-written, romantic and funny. 2009
